Özet

Electric vehicle (EV) fast charging introduces large and rapidly varying power demands that interact with nonideal grid conditions, including voltage unbalance and distortion. These effects can increase converter current stress and degrade power quality in distribution systems. This paper investigates a backstepping sliding mode control (BSMC) strategy for a three-phase DSTATCOM supplying EV fast-charging loads. The proposed controller combines a backstepping-based outer loop for DC-link voltage regulation with an inner sliding mode current controller in the stationary αβ frame. The design is PLL-free and avoids sequence decomposition. Performance is evaluated through time-domain simulations with fixed controller gains under four scenarios: nominal operation, voltage unbalance, grid voltage distortion, and plant parameter uncertainty. Metrics include DC-link voltage bounds, converter current stress, power factor, total harmonic distortion, and negative-sequence current levels. A conventional SRF-PLL+PI controller is used as a baseline. Results show that the proposed BSMC maintains stable DC-link regulation and reduces compensator RMS and peak currents while preserving comparable power factor and harmonic performance. Robust behavior is maintained under nonideal grid conditions and parameter uncertainty, indicating the effectiveness of PLL-free nonlinear control for DSTATCOM-based EV fast-charging applications.
