Özet

This paper examines the ideological reshaping of the Peasant Uprising of 1914-15 in Albania, specifically focusing on its reinterpretation under the Hoxhaist regime. While pre-and post-socialist narratives of ten depicts the Uprising as a religiously motivated, pro-Ottoman movement, the socialist historiography reframed it as a revolutionary struggle against feudalism. This reinterpretation was a deliberate attempt to positioning the Uprising as part of a class struggle. Through the lens of Hoxha’s works and state-sponsored historical texts, the research highlights the instrumentalisation of history as an ideological tool. The paper concludes that the different interpretations about the Uprising’s motivations serves as a microcosm of broader historiographic conflicts in post-Ottoman Balkan studies, opening new avenues for historical inquiry.
