Özet
Drought is a critical global issue with widespread impacts on ecosystems, economies, and societies. This chapter presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis and review of drought-related research. It focuses on global trends, the most cited publications, the most productive countries, and the most influential journals, as well as drought types, emerging themes, methods, and datasets. The analysis, based on publications from 1980 to 2024, uses the Web of Science (WoS) database. Initially, global trends in drought research are examined by analyzing highly cited publications, country-level contributions, publication patterns in leading journals, and citation metrics. Studies on different drought types (meteorological, agricultural, hydrological, and socioeconomic) are reviewed to determine which types are most frequently investigated and how their interconnections are addressed. Keyword co-occurrence analysis is employed to identify thematic trends and emerging research priorities, which highlight the dominant topics in the field. Additionally, the most commonly used datasets in drought research are identified, along with the methods and indices utilized in drought prediction. The findings are visualized through network maps that illustrate key trends and relationships. Based on these insights, research gaps and underexplored areas are identified, and future directions for advancing drought research and supporting policy development are discussed.
