Özet
In this paper, two nice geometrical properties of a Banach space called rotund (R) and locally uniform rotund (LUR) norms are deeply studied. Inspired by the characterization of the rotund norm by d−property, a new geometrical property of Banach space called LUR d− property is defined. Also, the best proximity point theorems of various contraction mappings are seen. This new type of geometrical property is used in the characterization of locally uniformly rotund normed spaces and to prove some of the best proximity point theorems of various contraction mappings.
