Özet
Having entered our lives after the Enlightenment Era in Architecture, modernism has emerged as a result of meeting the need for the emergent accommodation and construction materials that were created by the industrial revolution. This approach, which defends the idea that architecture should be shaped according to human needs, is a result of new living conditions. The study evaluates the architecture of Cyprus that has developed through history with an organic approach; and investigates the reflections of modernism in Cyprus, development of its architecture until today, and issues. Within the scope of research, the field survey has been completed, buildings which could be shown as examples of modern architecture style in Nicosia were chosen and their characteristics were mentioned. As a result of examinations, because of the political issues in Cyprus, raising numbers of houses and the lacks in the regulations, not only unplanned, discordant with the environment, build- and- sell model buildings cause environmental pollution, but also it is concluded the it negatively affected the factor of creating a sustainable environment..
