Özet

Savings finance is a prominent alternative financing model that offers an alternative to interest-based finance. It is shaped by moral norms. In this study, the theoretical foundations, historical development, and social perception of savings finance in Turkey are analyzed using quantitative data. The model, with its origins in ancient Chinese practices, is predicated on participants financing their needs, such as housing and vehicles, through mutual savings. The sector, which became widespread in Turkey in the 1990s, was brought under regulatory control in 2021. The findings of the research indicate that individuals utilizing the system exhibit sensitivity to interest rates; however, cost advantages emerge as a more determinative factor in their preferences. As levels of education rise, awareness of interest-free financing also rises. Finally, policy recommendations for the sector’s growth at this stage include increasing financing diversity, fostering public-private partnerships, and reducing waiting periods.
